Design Development III

These are the floor plans that I have completed so far. Since I'm working both on Revit and Rhino, there are some exterior walls that are shown with dashed lines. These walls will be added once the Rhino 3D model is complete.

Design Development II

In order to take advantage of the view of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan, the floor area on the left side starts increasing as I go to the upper rooms, while the floor area in the right side decreases as I go to the upper floors. Both sites are connected by a bridge that looks down to the pool.

In this sketch I show the location of the important spaces that I will have in my hotel.

Design Development I

The next sketches show how I used my concept model to start creating the hotel's floor plans.

  1. Concept model to scale
  2. Sketch of my concept model
  3. The lines in blue are the ones that I will use as guidelines to create the footprint of my building.
  4. Since the site is divided in two sections, I drew a cut line across the middle of the group of guidelines to split them into two different groups, one for each side of the site.
  5. The dotted line shows where the overpass that connects both sides will be located.

Development of Concept Model

For this assignment, I was asked to choose the models that I liked the most out of the previous nine that I made and then combine them.

After I did this, we were asked to make the model to scale and put it in our site so that we could start analyzing it according to our programs and the views.

After I decided where I wanted to assign the main spaces in my hotel, I made a new model since the previous one was still too abstract. In order to take advantage of the nice view,  the guest rooms will face the Brooklyn Bridge. The spa will be located in the first floor and it will have its own entrance. There will be a terrace next to the restaurant, and the pool will be located next to the passage that connects both sites.
